An Update on Clue Chase

Hello! Clue Chase here with a post that may break from our usual style a bit. The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that our physical location is currently not open for games. We understand that this may be concerning to some of our local NYC players, so we wanted to take this opportunity to alleviate any concerns, and potentially offer a rare piece of insight into our decision making processes.

First, Clue Chase will be re-opening. This closure is not permanent, and is in response to the recent detection of the more contagious Covid strain here in NYC. We want to keep our staff and our players healthy, and gathering together indoors for games, masked or otherwise, doesn’t seem the best way to accomplish that. We do not have an exact date for our re-opening at this time. When we re-open will be dependent on a number of factors, primarily the percentage of the population vaccinated, and also what we’re seeing in regards to NYC tourism numbers. We’re currently projecting a late summer/early fall date, so around August or September. However this is subject to change, and may be sooner or later than those given months, depending on the state of the vaccine rollout.

The second factor in our decision making process is (likely unsurprisingly) financial. Small businesses have been hit extremely hard this past year, and indoor entertainment venues such as ours are certainly not an exception. (In fact we would wager that our industry may be one of the most heavily impacted). This move to virtual only escape rooms allows us to continue to pay our staff, while keeping both them and our customers safe, and removing a degree of the overhead that comes with running a physical location.

Virtual escape rooms? That’s right! Our focus for the coming months will be on expanding our offering of virtual escape room games. We may also be creating a few games that are a bit more… “tactile”, so stay posted. For our virtual games we’ve got another one already close to launch, look for it sometime in  early-to-mid February. We’ve got a lot of exciting things planned for these virtual games, and our puzzle designers have been hard at work. You can expect the same quality and attention to detail that you’ve become to know and expect from our physical escape rooms, in these virtual games – after all, they’re being created by the same team of professionals.

We’ve also got a few ideas to get you up and moving, doing something away from your computer screen, while staying socially distanced. We can’t go into too many details here yet, but we’re looking forward to being able to share more in the coming months.

Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and keep puzzling your way through life.
